THE CLAPPED OUT OLD DATSUN 120Y

Not as good as last week ..... my 5km run time that is.

I'm not surprised. The start of my run was just AWFUL. I was really struggling and I knew that my time would be cr*p. Luckily I felt better after 2kms and picked up the pace a little. Then at 4kms I actually ran reasonably well but didnt have it in me to finish strong :-(

It was a classic case of "you feed the machine lots of cheap, nasty fuel then it'll run like a clapped out old Datsun 120Y" but "if you feed it the best quality fuel in just the right amount then it'll be running like a Porsche."

Today I was the Datsun 120Y.

Here's to a better effort this coming week and a 5km time thats maybe a smidge over 30 minutes. I can do it. I can do it. I can do it.

I couldn't agree more!! I am always amazed when people shrug off eating junk with an "Oh well, it just means that it will give me energy for my workouts," because it never works that way with me.

I can never run if I have eaten junk the night before. In fact I run better first thing in the morning on an empty stomach. I feel a lot lighter on my feet then and always seem to have more than enough energy to get through it even though my last meal of the day before was a chicken and veg stirfry.

But I guess being a "Protein Type" according to a metabolic typing questionnaire I did, I work better on protein and good fats than I do on carbs, which tend to make me sluggish. No wonder I do so well on a pre-comp diet... LOL!!

Have a great weekend Magda xxx

Magda completley agree with the correct fuels...I will feel so much better after eating the wrong fuels...

I had a bad run today too, but I don't think I was completly recovered from my cold...

The runs will always be good and bad, and just because it wasn't better than last week - doesn't make it bad either, it just means you haven't hit a new PB yet - but you're not going to see them weekly!
Just keep plodding - it will be worth it in the end

Oh Rae TOO TRUE!!!!! Energy????!!! No way. I felt like total cr*p. Like you, I do my best work first thing in the morning, empty stomach and look out world!!! Wont make THAT mistake again.

Hey Kristy if you're still battling illness, even if only a little, then your performance will be average at best. You'll be firing on all cylinders soon I'm sure.

Lisa I'll definitely keep plodding but with better fuel in my tank. I'm 100sure thats why I ran so badly and felt so waful.

Live and learn....hey guys.

Cheers
