AN INTERLUDE WITH MY FEAST BEAST

My Feast Beast surfaced at morning tea time today. The spread was amazing yet again, the tables groaning with junky, fatty, sugary foods (oh and some fruit). Here’s what happened:

Me: wander over to the cafeteria area with my crispbread, tuna and a peach. Glance at the spread and go to sit well away from it.

Feast Beast (FB) whispering to me: Mmmmm the streusel looks fantastic. You know you want some.

Me: Yes I do but I wont.

FB whispering: What about the cinnamon donuts? You LOVE cinnamon donuts. Go on have some.

Me: No!

FB whispering again: OK then just have some crackers with cheese and kabana. Its almost healthy you know.

Me: Bull sh*t. Shut up and leave me alone. I’ll eat my snack and nothing else. You, Feast Beast will have to starve. So just F*** OFF.

And I did just that and then stayed well clear of that area as much as I could. Now that I've survived the taunting my FB is hibernating again. But I know he’ll be back and probably roaring instead of whispering. But I’m prepared for him. I know the game he plays and the tricks he uses and I can beat him at it.

Cheers all

Magda

Well done for fighting the beast and winning. That's a huge game that goes on in our heads and I for one can appreciate how much effort that actually takes. Another successful day done and dusted Magda. :o) xx

Fantastic work Magda.

You won the fight, and with each win you will just get more confident and more stronger. Then the FB won't have a leg to stand on.

Happy for you

Hey Magda,

I know you have read some NLP - you need to reframe thsoe foods so you don't want to eat them. That way there will be no struggle.

Yes Lia, the stuff that goes on in our heads can make or break us (as you well know). It was a small victory but a victory nevertheless so another good day clocked up.

Thanks Theo. I'm looking forward to the time when that indeed happens.

Yep Shar when it roars at you, ROAR BACK!! LOL The book helped me to really understand what goes on when we binge and how to avoid it. Yesterday was only a very mild case of FB trying to take control but there have been many times when he has won. Anyway it feels good to talk back and use as colourful a language as you can manage.

Thanks Lisa. I certainly need to look further into the NLP - just touched on some basic stuff so far but what you've suggested makes good sense. Thanks again.

Cheers all

Magda, - mine is the temptation (for a start) to have a wine or beer when feeling on track etc. That is the main one I constantly fight then unless I'm happy and controlled with occasional consumption. But if from TOO much wine or beer I fall off the wayside and reaquaint with sugary or salty or fatty foods I can happily live easily without the real trouble of the self belief game begins and I generally have fallen short of my goal, then get so disappointed. Need to be better at getting over BIG slip ups more quickly as the FB seems to win if I feel negative about myself.

Pip, once you work out what the FB wants and how he tries to trick you when you least expect it, you can better prepared with your plan to fight back. Its really made me stop and think about some of the ways I had just given in and I now feel better equipped to deal with it in future.
