DEALING WITH "FREEDOM TO EAT"

I'm now starting to see what everyone is talking about when they experience the "post-comp-blues". Except I dont actually feel blue but I'm finding it harder and harder to get focussed on healthier eating and be consistent with it.

I'm letting too many treats pass these lips and I'm having some struggles with portion control. There are times when I could just eat and eat and eat.

So I'm trying some strategies to get myself on the path I want to travel and then stay on it. But if anybody has some words of wisdom from their experience that could help me I'M ALL EARS.

Hi Magda, I have been having the same issues myself this week. Sometimes it's good to be accountable to someone else. Just knowing that they are going to be looking over your food diary can help you reign things in a bit. If you don't want to go down that route again, just think back to all the hard work that you put in before your comp. Sure it feels good to be eating those treats now, but it isn't going to feel so good to try and have to get the weight off again. Been there, done that - isn't fun.
I'll post an article in my blog for you about appetite that might help you understand what you're going through.

I find having something like an affirmation or reminder with you constantly about why it is important for you to eat well gets me through. My little note that lives in my wallet was put there after eating a beef schnitzel at a pub a few months ago 'Remember this feeling of guilt, bloating and general yuck-ness the next time you want to eat something that will not benefit you in the long run'. I find just knowing this little piece of paper is with me helps me make better choices.

Dear Magda,

What is going on now with you is a directly proportional to how "strictly" you were prepared for the comps.

The thing is you can choose to eat it if you truly want it, but is that what you're really hungry for - or is it something else.
